Code Review Eligibility

Before requesting a code review, you need to verify you are eligible for a code review.

• You may only have 1 code review appointment per week, unless you are using tokens with instructor approval.
• You may only have 1 upcoming code review appointment at a time. For example, you cannot have upcoming code review appointments for both the Bundle 1 Review and Project v1.2 Review assignments.
• You must meet the prerequisites for each code review assignment. For example, both Bundle 1 Review and Project v1.1 Tests must be completed before you may request a code review for the Project v1.2 Review assignment.
• Your code must be fully functional (i.e. passing tests) and meet the code style and warning checks.

The GitHub Actions bot will try to indicate when your code is eligible for code review:

However, the bot can only access information in the current repository. For example, it cannot determine if you have met the Bundle 1 Review prerequisite for the Project v1.2 Review assignment. It will warn you when that is the case:

What if I had a code review this week already, but I’m ready for my next one?

Go ahead and request the code review. Then, either reach out on Piazza to get approval to use tokens to sign up early, or sign up for an appointment early next week.

If you sign up for more than 1 appointment in a week without approval, you will be warned and charged tokens. Repeat offenses have escalating consequences.

Do asynchronous code reviews count towards the 1 per week limit?
