You must earn a 70% or higher average on Exam 1 to earn a C or higher letter grade for this class.
If you “earnestly participate” in the retake process but do not earn a passing grade, the instructor will let you substitute your Exam 2 score to meet the C letter grade specification. This will allow you to still pass this class, but you will be unable to use that score to qualify for a B+ or higher letter grade.
Unfortunately, if you do not pass either of the exams, then a C– letter grade is the highest letter grade you may earn. That letter grade is not considered passing for the CS Major or CS Minor requirements. You will need to retake this class or select a different major.
If you are not on track to pass the course, you may want to consider withdrawing before the deadline on April 8th. You are not on track if:
It is important to be realistic about your circumstances. If the factors that lead to falling behind are ongoing, you are more likely to fall further behind than to catch up on material. The healthier and kinder option may be to withdraw. In most cases, it is less harmful to withdraw from a class than to earn an F letter grade.
